COMMON QUESTIONS FOR LIFE COACHING
Is life coaching right for me?
Life coaching could benefit you if you are a high-functioning person who wants to enhance your quality of life in a goal-focused way. (Therapy is more appropriate if you struggle with feelings such as depression or anxiety, or if you have unresolved psychological issues such as grief, relationship dysfunction or low self-esteem.)

You would be a good candidate for life coaching if you are relatively happy with your life but feel something is missing, or you know you want to address a particular issue that's been on the back burner for too long and you need some help moving into action mode. The famous quotation "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" is a perfect description of the life coaching process.

How can life coaching help me?
Everyday life can be so hectic and demanding that your larger life goals and dreams can get lost in the shuffle. A life coach can help you focus on specifics and stay motivated. Think of how an athletic coach benefits an athlete: assessing and managing strengths and limitations, providing positive feedback, and encouraging the athlete to train properly. The same is true of life coaching.

Once we've assessed your life and determined your goals, I'll be there to cheer you on when you're making progress and to explore the roadblocks if you're not taking the steps necessary to achieve your goals. Having someone outside of yourself participate in your self-growth can provide the necessary objectivity and accountability to turn your dreams into reality.

What is life coaching like?
If possible, we might meet in person for the initial assessment session. From there, we usually will have a coaching session
once a week via phone or Skype/webcam. However, the length and frequency of sessions is totally up to you.

In the early stages of coaching, we will identify and prioritize the goals you think would contribute the most meaningful improvements to your life. Then we will break those goals down into action steps.

Each week, you will agree to work on one or more specific action steps before our next session. So at the beginning of each session, we will review your progress of the previous week. You will then determine the topic(s) for the rest of the current session, and we will brainstorm ideas and generate action steps for the coming week. You can work on one goal at a time or address multiple ones simultaneously.

Can I use my health insurance to pay for life coaching services?
Unfortunately, no. Life coaching is strictly done on a private-pay basis. I charge by the quarter-hour to allow clients as much flexibility as possible in determining the length of their sessions.

What payment options are available?
I accept credit and debit cards, checks, cash and PayPal.

Is life coaching confidential?
Since I am also a licensed therapist, I use the same confidentiality rules in life coaching as I do in my therapeutic work. However, the issues that require breaches of confidentiality in therapy rarely arise in life coaching. We will be focusing on the positive – finding ways to propel you forward into the life you dream of.
